Hey

New post. School's over but i still might not be able to post as much because of our schedule. We're going to summer camp, Cali, South California, and some other places. Can't wait for Christmas, during the break I'm going to Thailand with my grandmother Mary, that will be awesome. Recently had a party at my house with some of my friends just to see them. It was fun, we got to swim and catch up with each other. Also started a facebook page, even though I still am wary of social networking pages.

Bah.

I've been very tired over the course of April. We've been doing a lot of practicing in band for Nevada All State, Disneyland, and 5th Grade Night. Next week is Disneyland, so that will be fun. At the moment, my music consists of some 'old' stuff like Queen, Journey, a bit of Foreigner, Styx, and others. Most modern music just gives me headaches. They sound exactly the same with different words. I need some variety. At least its not still the screamo crap. On a side note, our guitar lessons have been renewed and are running smoothly. Me and my brother are currently learning a duet for a summer concert as well as a few other pieces. I'll post more so don't worry. For now, It's time to get off. Sorry for the short update.

HAAA

Day after my birthday. We went to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus Casino in Las Vegas. I have a few friends with me, so it was tons o fun. I'd like to thank ze Matzek family for ze nize gifts, comrades. 200 dollars overall. Most of it will go into my savings, though. Anyway, I've been delving into the realm of orchestral music in Square Enix's video games. They have great composers of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and other games. A lot of the things they do include a band, orchestra, and choir. I think it would be fun to play their music in band. Speaking of video game music. On my youtube channel, masonmatzek (i know) I am going to start posting videos of some music that we do at school and some themes on clarinet, piano, and guitar. We are currently preparing some great music for the Nevada All-State Show and then the Disneyland Show. April will be very busy. I will post again soon on how the rest of the month unfolds.

Hey, new post. Sorry for the wait, but I was busy this week. Okay, last Wednesday our Symphonic Band, with me as first clarinet, went to Band Festival. We played three of our prepared pieces for three judges, and they judged us all the while. After we finished we did our scales and we sightread a piece (played a piece we'd never seen before). After the judging, we got all 1's, which is rated as superior. It wasn't a contest, and no prizes are given, but we do get a plaque with our rating and band name on it.
This is Mr. Beasley's 18th year of teaching band at Greenspun Junior High School. At all the festivals he's gone to, he's always gotten a superior rating with his band. He plays in the Las Vegas Philharmonic, plays at many shows such as Monty Python's Spamalot and The Producers, and knows many conductors, composers, and fellow musicians. He started off playing French Horn but now plays many instruments and can transpose well. He sent a cd of our performance to a certain company, i forget right now, but we have been invited to play in a representation for Southern Nevada, along with two choirs, an orchestra, and a guitar ensemble. Later in May, we are going to Disneyland to play for people and the staff. Tomorrow, (Monday) some of our best are going around to different elementary schools and playing individual solos or duets to get the young'uns interested in music so another band can take shape next year.

Here we are.

Hey, my name is Mason, I am close to being 14, LOVE music, and the rest you can find out on this blog. So, since this is the opening post, I would like to show a few pictures. Obviously you can see me at the top, but here's just a tiny bit of what I have.

These are a few of our instruments, including our Peavey Bass, Shecter Stratocaster, Yamaha Keyboard and a ukelele in its case, which my grandmother, (see blogs page for Mary's Ramblin's) gave me.

This is my ever-entertaining Cap of ze Buttones. It consists of 16 pins and 7 buttons. It may not seem that huge, but it is a work in progress. It also has a hat pocket on the inside. Beside it is my newly acquired Newton's Cradle (Who((Newton)), apparently, had long hair, same as me) which has a lot of weird stuff to do on it.
So that's just a slight taste of me. Check back every one to two days and I just might have something new.
